About Sophia Christopher

Sophia Christopher is an APRA Screen Music Award nominated screen music composer & songwriter based in Sydney, Australia. Most notably she composed the original songs, lyrics, and score for the film musical ‘MumLife’ (2022), which premiered in competition at Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and saw her nominated for an APRA Screen Music Award for Best Song. She has worked across different genres and media forms including composing for TikTok scripted comedy series “NEXT”, working with NIKE on the Women’s World Cup Sam Kerr world wide campaign and has also been nominated for Best Film Score at the Horror Fest in Austin, TX for her tension-filled horror score for “Hyde” (2021). Her scores have been screened at many local and international film festivals including Sydney Film Festival, Denver Film Festival and FlickerFest.

A passionate collaborator, Sophia is a multi-instrumentalist and talented vocalist who combines a deep love of storytelling with musical experimentation, and an innate sense of curiosity to find the unique musical fingerprint for each project she works on. Her musical versatility sees her shine in contemporary music with a foundation in traditional film scoring narrative techniques.

With a background in jazz, she holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz from ANU, a Masters in Film Scoring from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and is a graduate of world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in Songwriting and Music Production, where she was awarded a highly contested scholarship.

Sophia’s unique musical versatility and passion for storytelling and collaboration sees her as one of Australia’s many exciting emerging screen music composers. She has a healthy 2024 composing slate spanning film, TV, stage/film musicals, including currently being in preproduction composing the music and lyrics for Lander Media’s new action musical feature film “M.A.M” (dir by Ruby Challenger) that is funded by Screen Australia.
